I will be announcing #'s 4 and 5 this week but for now, #003 is almost ready for shipping. The thrid single in the record club is two Brisbane bands with leanings in the same direction. Pop punk/hardcore. Not modern third generation middle of the road pop punk, but "ol' school" style and attitude.
The Hymies were a great band, and a terrible band all rolled into one. You never knew what you were going to get, and there-in lay their fascination. The two songs they've submitted for the singles club are fast, short and fast. One of the songs is 42 seconds long, hence having another song on there. Both are cracking tunes and typical of the Hymies when they were firing on all cylinders.
The Undead Apes song is no slouch in the "shortness" or "speed" department either, but, like all Undead Apes songs is rediculously, infectiously catchy. At 2 minutes long, it's the longest song on the split but still over before you want it to be. Both of these bands are fine examples of what Brisbane has to offer to these genres. I hope you like them as much as I do.
