I am VERY happy to announce the next release from Tym records will be a new 12" EP officially out March 2015 featuring the immensely talented Brett Netson with his new project Brett Netson and Snakes.
Brett Netson is probably better known as the guitarist from Built to Spill, Caustic Resin and collaborative guitarist on the latest Earth record, Primitive and Deadly and has been guitarist in Mark Lanegan's touring band. He has just recorded a new EP as Brett Netson and Snakes called Scavenger Cult.
Recorded on 2” 16-track tape with Jason Ringelstetter at Tonic Room in Boise, Idaho, mixed to 1/2″ tape by Steve Lobdell at Audible Alchemy in Portland, Oregon with analog mastering at Salt Mastering in Brooklyn, New York.
Brett was fiercely insistent on an all analogue release and has a long history of serious involvement in his recorded work including his intimate (and I think, amazing) album from 2009, Simple Work For the Dead and six previous Caustic Resin full length LP's. This release features drummer Steve Gere, and stereo bass contributions from Ian Waters and Josh Gallaway, in addition to guitar, bass and vocals courtesy of Netson.
Scavenger Cult (TYM029) will be released March 2015 on LP in Europe, Australia and New Zealand through TYM Records and LP and digital in the US through Think Indie/Coallition Of Independent Music Stores distributor and BandCamp.
Brett and I have worked together in the past on many things including his Tym signature effects pedal, the Tatanka as well as recorded music when Brett had a song on 7" as part of my record club split series back in the the first club. We seem to have a common .......... understanding of the world and a real appreciation and love of what each other is doing. I feel very honoured to work with Brett and people like him on things as important as this.
